Location: In the Mayflower Church on 3901 NW 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73116
How to get there: Take Northwest Expressway to Portland. Turn right on Portland then left on 63rd St. The church is a one story white colonial looking building with a tall steeple on your right about a block away after you turn onto 63rd St. The parking lot and entrance to Early Foundations are on the backside of the church building.
Description of agency: This is a model preschool program for toddlers with autism. It is designed to provide individualized educational services to children with autism and to be a place where teachers and educational professionals can come to learn how to implement similar programs/teaching strategies in schools across the state of Oklahoma. Children who are typically developing attend as well and provide peer interaction models in a play-group setting for the children with autism. You will get a chance to see ABA services here.

Description of activity: Sooner SUCCESS provides free care coordination through a directory of thousands of agencies, organizations, and programs throughout the state, and can help people find the services they need in their area. “The mission of Sooner SUCCESS is to advance a comprehensive, unified system of health, social and educational services for children and youth with special needs…within their community.”
Your role/requirements: You will meet with Lori Wathen (Sooner SUCCESS Oklahoma County Coordinator) to learn more about Sooner Success and how it helps people throughout our state. She will tailor this presentation based on your current knowledge of Sooner SUCCESS. You are able to make referrals for your patients through their website.

LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities) is an interdisciplinary leadership education program funded by the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau in the US Health Resources and Services Administration. OKLEND prepares individuals from a wide variety of disciplines for leadership and advocacy roles, promoting high quality services and improved systems to support children and youth with developmental disabilities and their families. Our residents are considered short-term trainees in LEND.
Chuck Roberts is a Faculty member in the LEND program and a self-advocate. He meets with our residents to answer any questions from the point of view of a person with a disability and faculty member. Prior to this meeting you are required to view a video he shares to help you have a better understanding of living with a disability. That link can be found HERE as well as in your calendar invite.
