A Note From the Editor
This website is here to save you time! It is also here to help you find the information you need about trauma, toxic stress and referrals to mental health care treatment. There are also a lot of simple things we can incorporate in our talks with parents to support their efforts of building resilience and seeing how their own past can affect the present of their children. If we can intervene at a young age, we can save the child so much heartache in the future, as well as poor health and learning outcomes. I am also providing information to help healthcare systems reduce or avoid causing medical trauma. We, as healthcare providers, need to learn more about the importance of attachment in the life of a young child, and the role of a parent in buffering the fear, or feeling of helplessness, that can occur in a medical setting. I hope this information is very helpful to you in your practice.
With Regards,
Laura Shamblin, MD
