- A goldmine of information and resources for parents of kids with a history of trauma from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. It especially trains parents to deal with disruptive behaviors, food, and sensory issues while improving attachment and connection, rather than in a punitive way. Click on the Resources tab and then scroll down to Popular Topics.
- This is a nonprofit organization who attempts to provide unbiased and accurate information and education on infertility, adoption, and foster care. They have a large range of resources in each area and allow comparison of different options. Most of their resources are Trauma Informed although this is not their focus. They also have a radio program and blog with new information each week.
- LWB is an international charity organization that provides help to vulnerable and orphaned children in several countries. They have a blog called Realistic Expectations that has really helpful information for parents considering adopting internationally. This link is to the blog on attachment expectations -attachment trauma.
- This is a site run by an adoptive mother who also has a book by the same name. It is a wealth of information about international adoption and much of it would relate to any country or possibly domestic adoption also. It talks clearly about the ethics of adoption as well as potential challenges that adoptive families face and how to meet them in a trauma informed way.
- This is a nonprofit that links interested parents with kids who are waiting for adoption in the USA. It has some information and resources on trauma and adoption/foster care.
- The US Governments website about all things foster/adoption related. Search for resources by State.
- Parenting After Adoption - LINK
- A large clearinghouse of adoption information. Many articles included, but we would be unable to verify if they are all trauma informed.
- This is a practice in New York for the neuro-psychological and psychoeducational assessment of internationally adopted children. They have a large number of articles on their site written to help adoptive and foster parents understand trauma behaviors in children as well as learning English as a second language and common school issues.
